Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
  • At least a Degree in Geology qualifications from a recognized university,
  • At least over 1 years experience in drilling related work
  • Experience in application ground water survey techniques will be added advantage
  • Computer literate,
  • Must have outstanding oral and written communications and relationship skills,
  • Good team player, self starter, has ability to work under minimum supervision and maintain good relationships.

IPA is a nonprofit organization that creates and evaluates solutions to social and development problems, and works to scale up successful ideas through implementation and dissemination to policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors.

Job Description:
Field Officers will work individually and in a team to administer electronic surveys to adults in Jua Kali Kamukunji, organize data in the field, compile survey information, translate between English and Swahili, and complete other tasks required for the project or assigned by a supervisor.
Most of the work will be based in Jua Kali. Working outside of standard business hours in either the morning or evening or on weekends will sometimes be necessary.
Work Duration:
Successful applicants will initially be hired for one month on a casual basis. Those who demonstrate consistent exceptional performance and ability will be considered for longer-term placement.
Qualifications:
  • It is preferred that candidates possess a college diploma, however qualified candidates who have completed their Form 4 and have relevant work experience are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, and must be fluent in both English and Swahili.
  • They must be a team player, possess high attention to detail, and demonstrate punctuality.
  • They must be persuasive, tough, and confident, adapt quickly to new environments, and enjoy meeting new challenges.
  • Previous experience in data collection and survey administration is a plus, as the job involves daily entering survey responses into a netbook.

Program description:
This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conduct research in malaria, HIV and other diseases.
Due to its continued growth, the Refugee Health Program has the following vacancy.
Surveillance Coordinator – Dadaab
(MR 9 or 10) Grading depend with Qualifications
Location: Dadaab Refugee Camps, North Eastern Province
Reports to: program Head
Essential Requirements
  • Academic requirements
o Degree in Medicine(MD, MBChB or equivalent) and registered with the Medical Board OR
o Bachelor’s Degree in another health related field, AND with at least 3 years experience in refugee health, disease surveillance, epidemiology
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases & public health
  • Experience with data collection and data collection tools
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Proficiency in oral and written English language required, working knowledge of Somali language desired but not required
  • Willingness to work in Dadaab refugee camp
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the existing facility-based disease surveillance activities in Hagadera camp, Dadaab
  • Initiate expansion of disease surveillance to other sites in Dadaab and along the cross-border region
  • Oversee laboratory quality improvements
  • Manage all logistics associated with carrying out surveillance activities in the camp.
  • Supervise study team – including clinical, lab, and data staff.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records using developed data collection instruments; report back to staff in Nairobi
  • Provide technical support to UNHCR and partners as required.
  • Lead and participate in response to public health events of concern that occur in Dadaab and the region
  • Work closely with County and regional health authorities
  • Other duties as assigned.
Terms Of Employment:
Contract for 1 year renewable as per KEMRI schemes of service. Probation period for the first 3 months. Salary negotiable within the appropriate grade depending on education, experience and demonstrated competency.
